In May 2004, we opened a brand new facility for our English as a Second Language Program. Key features of this facility include: large classrooms (spacious, sunlit, and newly furnished); computer lab (with high-speed Internet access and multilingual support); movie theatre; games room (with ping-pong, pool, and foosball); and kitchen/dinning area.
We are located in the heart of downtown Ottawa. Famous for its historic sites and natural beauty, Ottawa is a clean, safe, and cosmopolitan city. Just outside the school’s doors, students can visit popular attractions, including Parliament Hill (the seat of Canada’s government), the Rideau Canal (in winter, the world’s longest staking rink), annual music festivals, museums, libraries, and hundreds of shops, restaurants and cafés. For the nature lover, there is also Gatineau Park, where one can hike, bike, or ski over endless trails or swim in pristine lakes. And for weekend trips, students can easily visit other large urban centres like Montreal and Toronto.
ESL Program Introduction
Combining a communicative approach with cooperative and multimedia-based learning, our programs impart the fundamentals of English and give students the confidence and 'know-how' needed to use English in real life situations (e.g., work, school, leisure, etc.). Enrolment is limited to ten students per class, which ensures greater participation and individualized instruction. Conversation is a predominant element of our approach and emphasis is given to quickness of speech and spontaneity over passive acquisition or rote learning. This ensures that students are able to transfer their knowledge of theory into effective communication. Homework and task-based assignments are also given to reinforce learning and test understanding.
In our general beginner, intermediate, and advanced programs, students gain proficiency in speaking, listening, reading, and writing. At the higher levels, students can select classes devoted to specific language skills (e.g., writing, speaking/listening, etc.) or situations (e.g., business, research, academe, etc). In addition, our very popular TOEFL preparation course is well noted for preparing students for the rigours of the TOEFL exam and academic life, in general. Customized programs are also available.
We provide a professional training environment that both respects and celebrates differences in language, culture, and history. Our students come from a wide variety of countries (e.g., Mexico, Germany, Russia, France, Libya, Venezuela, Saudi Arabia, Columbia, China, Poland, Japan, Korea, etc.) and such a mixture guarantees rewarding class discussions and cultural exchange. Furthermore, students leave our programs with a greater familiarity with Canadian culture, people, and customs.

Special Courses & Features
A home stay is an excellent way to fully immerse oneself in the Canadian culture and language. This program allows students to share in the daily life of their host family and practice English in a friendly and informal environment. Students are matched with Canadian families of good standing, who are enthusiastic about providing students with a pleasant and rewarding study abroad experience. Careful consideration is also given to the individual interests and backgrounds of both student and family in order to guarantee a good match. The host family provides three meals per day, accommodation and their hospitality. Special arrangements can be made for students with dietary restrictions. A one-time C$150.00 fee applies to finding and reserving appropriate accommodation for the student. The fee for the accommodation is C$650.00 for four weeks.
