ESL Program Introduction

The English Language Institute (ELI) offers both daytime and evening programs. Classes meet four days a week, from 16 to 24 hours a week depending on the program and semester. All members of our faculty have earned graduate degrees in applied linguistics/teaching English as a second language and have an average of 11 years of teaching experience in our program. Students who pass our placement/final exam with a certificate are able to apply to any undergraduate program at the City University of New York using these results in lieu of TOEFL.
