Based out of Boulder, Colorado, Intercambio de Comunidades is a nonprofit organization that works to end the isolation that many immigrants feel through language education and cultural exchange. Their mission includes bringing people together in a more accepting, diverse community that fosters cross-cultural relationships and learning through volunteerism. The organization also has offices in the neighboring cities of Longmont and Denver.
ESL Program Introduction
Intercambio offers affordable and flexible group or individualized English classes to non-native English speakers throughout Boulder County. These classes are taught by trained volunteers at public facilities, partner agencies, or students' homes. Volunteer teachers receive comprehensive training to help immigrants learn English, while gaining exposure and understanding of other cultures. It is this 'intercambio' (exchange) that allows both groups to form intercultural relationships and friendships.
