ESL Program Introduction

The American Language Institute offers intensive English programs for international students preparing for graduate or undergraduate studies, or who wish to further investigate the English-speaking world. ALI curriculum takes students from beginning-level English to university-level English. We strongly believe that students must develop a wide variety of language skills to be successful and to fully participate in university classes. Through reading, writing, speaking, and listening, we give students opportunities to improve fluency, comprehension, and vocabulary. Classes are offered both in summer sessions and the fall semester, during which students are in classes for 20 hours/week. Students may be placed in beginning, intermediate, and advanced levels based on their abilities. Outside of class, U.S. culture is introduced through conversational activities, where asking questions and sharing feelings are highly encouraged. Students also have the opportunity to participate in extracurricular cultural programs including trips to Niagara Falls, local museums, and other off-site locations. We invite international students to consider making Nazareth College their university home for undergraduate and graduate study in America!
