School Introduction

Stephen F. Austin State University (SFA) is a residential university of about 11, 500 students located in Nacogdoches, Texas--the oldest town in Texas. SFA is dedicated to academic excellence and to student success in a wide range of undergraduate and graduate programs. Nacogdoches, located in the Piney Woods of East Texas (140 miles NE of Houston and 180 miles SE of Dallas), is aa thriving and safe community, rich in culture and tradition, and committed to American values. The American English Language Institute (ESL) was created solely to prepare international students for the challenges of college education in the US.

ESL Program Introduction

The AELI (ESL) program provides international students with the necessary English skills to succeed in undergraduate or graduate programs in the US. Students who successfully eomplete the AELI program at SFA will be granted admission into the regular undergraduate program at SFA. Academic English, conversational skills, cultural experiences and interaction with other students are an integral part of AELI.
